Just bought a Jaguar XK8 - Year 1999 - one owner - 120.000 km / 74.600 miles. The car have had its chains and chain tensioners changed at 100.000 km. An old mechanic (40+ years in repairing Jag) came in add the Jaguar repair center and said: "Its the valve lifters" Clean the engine and it will run smoothly again. The car has some oil sludge and a cure of "oilservice has been added to new oil - run for an hour and oil changed again - with two new additives that should clean the engine - run for an hour and a half and speeded up to 2500 rpm every 5 minutes for 15 sec. The oil changed again and to valvecleaning additives added to the oil. NO big difference - but when the engine has run at 600 Rpm for 10 minutes it runs impecable and smooth without any sound other than sweet V8 Engine.
