Quad Platina Integrated and Platina Stream arrive

After being shown in prototype guise approx 3 years ago, the Quad Platina range has finally arrived. 5 years of design and research have heralded a new flagship series in Platina. Consisting at launch of the Platina Integrated and Platina Stream, they will be joined in early 2026 by Platina CDT, completing the Amp, Streamer, CD Player line up. We have spent some time with the Platina Amplifier and it is has a transparent sound with a scale and presence we haven’t experienced in a Quad Integrated amplifier before. The soundstage is as solid as the build and there is a Quad sweetness throughout the frequency range. Without getting too excited, we can’t wait to have this on demo! Platina Integrated is a 200wpc dual mono class A/B design, housed in beautiful casework behind an anodised front panel. It has a steel chassis with anti-resonance feet and side mounted heatsinks. The lovely 4.3” TFT colour screen give you access to all the settings. Here you can navigate all analogue and digital inputs, of which there are many, as well as configure the MM or MC phono stage. There are XLR and RCA inputs, a full ESS ES9038PRO Dac gives you multiple digital inputs, including HDMI. A custom designed high powered toroidal transformer is employed, alongside Wurth Elektronik bespoke capacitors, give the Platina muscular output with audiophile finesse. The Platina Stream is a Lumin powered Hi Res streamer that is Roon Ready out of the box. It supports Spotify, Tidal and Qobuz Connect functions as well as Airplay2. Plex integration is covered as well as USB HDD via a connection on the rear of the unit. There is a Quad Platina app available for iOS and Android for additional features and WiFi set up. The same ESS 8 channel DAC with 2 master clocks, ensures your music is conveyed with total natural presentation. Typically Quad, yet entirely new, Platina is a triumph and certainly in regards to the Integrated Amplifier, our shop favourites should be worried.
