This is a video of my new sanding downdraft table that I made using one pack of the Rocker downdraft panels: http://www.rockler.com/downdraft-tabl... one of the rockler quick connect 4" connectors that you can attach and connect your host to (http://www.rockler.com/dust-right-com..., some 3/4" particle board I had laying around, and some thin hard board from the back of the kitchen cabinets that we took out when we moved in. I also attached a piece of 2x4 to the box using some hinges so that I can lock it into place in my wood vice so the table stays in place. This would also have worked with 3/4" plywood, but I had more extra particle board than plywood at the time, so I used that. The plans that Rockler provides for their downdraft table are set up for a larger work area and that is why they use two packs of the panels (4 panels total). My work area is much smaller and I only have space for a two panel downdraft table, so that is what I built. I used pocket screws drilled out with my kreg k5 jig to hold the sides together and to the bottom. That jig worked really nice and the box is very solid. I should also be able to hang this on the wall eventually using the same 2x4 that is used to hold it in the vice, or that is the plan anyway. This new project should make sanding the jewelry boxes and future projects much easier and catch more of the dust. If anyone is interested a drawing or dimensions, let me know and I can make one. I suspect that the measurements I mention in the video would be enough for most people interested in making such a project to come up with their own plans for it as it is fairly straight forward, but if you are interested in a diagram etc, let me know in the comments.
