thanks for clicking on the video. Join me on a relaxing walk around Ashton Court, Bristol at 1:25 I put a prompt on screen about turning left but then I pan around to the right to show the gatehouse, bare with me, it's my second video and I'm learning. I'm only filming on my phone , a Google Pixel 8a, on future videos I've briefly used my Canon G5X Mk11 for the intro driving shots , and having never edited before, I'm using an app called inshot Today I'm starting at the Clarken Coombe gatehouse entrance as the garlic and bluebells are due out soon but unfortunately they are not in bloom just yet so I will keep walking here over the next few weeks. This is the closest access point for viewing. if you go past the gatehouse on your left, turn left and left again before the pub, there is a car park you can use, I think it's about £1 per hour. Go through the gatehouse and turn left across the grass to access the woods but I wander up through the small wood beside Clarken Coombe for this walk. Please note, when you exit this car park you have to turn left, the start of the Bristol clean air zone is just up the road but you can avoid it if your vehicle is not compliant. walk through the first woods and out past the next gatehouse on Clarken Coombe which is not open to the public , continue on the path which is often muddy, past the pond and in to the next garlic wood, I love the smell, there is a faint smell in the air at the moment . when you get to the bigger main path, go left for a longer walk up towards the quarry or go right like I do and head down to the fallow deer park entrance on your left. You must stick to the designated paths through the fallow deer and red deer parks, it's ok to sit on the benches but there are no other places for picnics, lots of options outside of the deer parks though. I exit the fallow deer park on the top path and turn right , please be aware of the mountain bike trail on the left , carry on and turn left on the big path up towards the plateau where there are currently ground nesting skylarks which I love listening to, they are great to watch too as they hover high in the air and then plummet towards the ground , they hover a little bit above the ground , I think this to have a final check for predators before heading back to the nest. walk down the gravel path, left will take you out to the Abbots Leigh entrance and on to the Clifton Suspension Bridge, right takes you down the hill towards Ashton Court Mansion , I'm going straight on in to the red deer park, the designated paths in here are marked with small white posts, I head down towards the gate and head over to the mansion , several balloons and generator noise, then over to look at the ice house and back along the tree lined drive past the walled garden and have another look at the mansion. thank you for watching Plod On Steady The following info is from the Ashton Court website on the 18th April 2025 About Just a short distance from Bristol’s city centre, Ashton Court Estate offers 850 acres of rolling parkland, ancient woodlands, and stunning views over the city. Once a grand country estate, it is now a much-loved public space, perfect for walkers, cyclists, and anyone looking to escape into nature. At the heart of the estate stands Ashton Court Mansion, a Grade I-listed building with a history dating back over 600 years. Though the mansion itself is not always open to the public, its impressive exterior and surrounding gardens are worth a visit. The estate is also famous for hosting the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta, one of the world’s largest gatherings of hot air balloons. The grounds are home to deer parks, mountain biking trails, and plenty of open space for picnics, making it a great spot for families, dog walkers, and outdoor enthusiasts. The Courtyard Café provides a relaxed place to grab a coffee or lunch after exploring the estate. .
