This performance of "Hageshisa to, kono mune no naka de karamitsuita shakunetsu no yami", meaning "The fury entwined with the burning hot darkness inside my heart", was taken from their ARCHE BUDOKAN Day2 concert and requested by Emily Reynolds. Translation by me. Annotations: "In the spring of random sorrow [...]" - "Random" might be a bit of a loose translation here, but let me explain: In Japanese it says "toorima teki". "Toorima" (lit. "evil spirit that passes") is used to describe random attackers nowadays, someone that would randomly attack people on the street. The original meaning was that of a demon who brings misfortunes to those he passes by. Now, if "sorrow" is described as "toorima-like", it would mean that the sorrow comes at random. That's why I chose to translate it this way. "The garden of crimson lotus and decaying ashes" - The kanji used for "ashes" is not the one usually used for it, but the pronunciation stays the same. What the one used actually means is along the lines of "being obsolete", "abandoned". "[...] but reach out countless times to my regrets until my death" - Not meaning that he keeps reaching out until his death, but that the regrets he reaches out to have been accumulated until the end of his life. --------------- I do not own Dir En Grey or any of their music or performances.
