Hi there light haulers. Today we're going to be taking a look at Draw-Tite's one and a quarter inch drawbar with a five inch rise. This drawbar is going to be great for your class two applications where you have a one and a quarter inch receiver. It's a solid steel shank on our drawbar. This is going to give it some extra durability. It does offer a 300 pound tongue weight, which is the force going down on top of it and also a 3,500 pound gross towing capacity, which is how much that it can pull behind it. And those are paired perfectly for each other because typically about whatever you're hauling the tongue weight's about 10% of that.Now ball doesn't come included with the drawbar. There's a good reason behind that. It's because Draw-Tite well, they really don't know what your trailer is and what you're planning on hauling. So you want to make sure you buy the appropriate ball to match your trailer. The one we're going to be trying out today here uses a two inch ball. So we've got a two inch ball installed inside of it.The only thing that I want to make sure you do purchase when you're getting your ball size is that you get a ball that has a three quarter inch shank because that's the size of the diameter of the hole in our drawbar here. So if you get one with a larger shank, it's not going to fit.The drawbar secures to your receiver using a half inch hitch pin and clip, which does come included with the drawbar.This job right here is mainly designed for your smaller sedans, particularly ones that sit low to the ground and also ones that have hitches that are tucked pretty well underneath the bumper. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of our ball mount, it measures about 10 inches, so that means we're going to get 10 inches of length sticking out the back there, which you might need on the ones that are tucked back real far. And it also offers a five inch rise to help lift it up because typically your sedans and stuff sit low to the ground and we want to try to haul our trailer level. We don't want the front end to be nosediving.Your drawbar is going to be great for all kinds of light duty towing applications. Whether you've got a small utility trailer like this, just wanted to haul a few things around with, maybe a couple of dirt bikes, or if you have a small jet ski trailer, you want to take the jet skis with you to the cabin for the weekend. We're going to be hooking up our trailer here and we'll show you how it looks when we got it installed here.Here, you can see we've got our trailer connected here, and we've got a fairly decent level towing. We are slightly higher in the front than we are in the back, but that's okay. Really if you have to choose one, you do want the trailer to be slightly higher in the front than the back or as level as possible.The most important thing to remember when choosing components for towing is the weight capacities of each component because your maximum towing capacity is going to be whatever the lowest of any of your components capacity is, whether it be your ball, your drawbar or your hitch. So if we have a ball that can go 5,000 pounds, a drawbar that can go 3,500 and a hitch that can only go 2,000, that means that our maximum is 2,000.The drawbar is a solid steel construction with a black powder coat finish on it to protect it against rust and corrosion. So you can get a long use out of it for many years to come.We'll begin our installation by removing the nut and washer from our ball, and then installing the ball into our drawbar. We're going to be placing it in this position as this is really designed for a rise for the most part for this drawbar. So we're going to put it there like that. And then on the other side, we're just going to re-secure it with the lock washer and nut.You'll have a couple of flat spots on your ball. So we're just lining those up in our rise to hold it. And then we can use a one and an eighth inch socket to torch the nut to the manufacturer's specifications. You usually find that on a tag found on your ball.Now that we've got it torqued to the manufacturer's specifications, we can place it in our receiver and we're ready to start towing. And that completes our look at Draw-Tite's one and a quarter inch drawbar with a five inch rise.
