Announcing the 2024 Virginia Preservation Awardees

Each year, we highlight the people and places representing exemplary historic preservation in Virginia. This year's awardees include projects and programs throughout the state, from Southwest Virginia to Hampton Roads to Northern Virginia. Historic preservation in Virginia makes an impact. Since its launch in 1997, the Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit Program resulted in $6.8 billion in private investment. At the same time, heritage tourism consistently ranks as a top five industry in the Commonwealth. This year’s preservation awardees represent a cross-section of project types and research that not only share unique history with the public, but are economic engines in their communities.
