The Cup and Handle Pattern. Is a cup and handle bullish? What is a cup and handle chart pattern? And what happens after a cup and handle pattern? OK. The cup and handle is both a continuation and a reversal pattern. The reversal pattern points to the end of a downtrend and price subsequently transitions into an uptrend. The continuation patterns happens during a market that is in an uptrend; a cup and handle forms, then the price continues its rise. Cup and Handle Stock Charts Pattern. As I've said this is a continuation but it depends on the way you see it. You have a drive up and then a small reversal that doesn't intrude too much into the initial drive, pushes back up but doesn't quite break thru the high, then it pushes back and after it starts pushing up. You can get a decent risk-reward ratio with this setup. Let's see why and how it works from a supply/demand perspective. This might work better on higher timeframes like weekly timeframes.
