This recipe can do done using many other vegetable like snake gaurd, greens, drum sticks, etc. In this video I showed you how to make it using chow chow. My father-in-law grew up in Palakkad and he talks about how tasty his mother used to cook vegetarian food. He complemented me saying I brought that mother's recipe taste to my Molagootal. He is against using pressure cooker to cook the moong dal and vegetable, though that is an easier way to do. Topioca appalam to the side has actually enhanced the eating expirience of simple veg lunch. Kindly try this simple molagootal recipe and let me know if you liked it. Ingredients Molagootal chow chow split green gram coconut jeera turmeric powder dried red chillies jeera/cumin seeds split black gram mustard seeds curry leaves In a pot, add chow chow, salt, and turmeric and boil till the it presses down using fingers. Boil split green gram with little turmeric in another pot. Make a paste of coconut, jeera seeds, and dried red chillies. After the dal and chow chow are boiled, add them both to coconut paste and add tempering of urad dal, mustard seeds. Add the curry leaves directly to the Molagootal. Do not add them in the tempering.
