History of Märklin 00 table-top model trains - Teil 1 / Episode 1

This is an exemple of how Märklin developped from 1933 onwards the concept of "Tischbahn" ( or table-top) model train layout. The necessary size fits well on a typical dining table. All accessories can be set up or dismantled when necessary. Points and signals are remotely controlled and switched by electro-mechanical mechanisms. For this layout, which illustrates how one could play around 1950, I am using very old 3-rail track of the 3600 series. Some elements were produced before WW II, other bits were produced around 1945-1950, but most belong to the "new" 3600 series issued around 1952. It was withdrawn when the modernised " M" track appeared in 1957 I believe.
