USAKOS 22 FEBRUARY For many years Usakos in the Erongo Region was the then South African -Railway (SAR ) hub and was world renowned for repairing, refurbishing, renovating and servicing of the SA Railway roling stock. Sadly those days are gone, but there are so many places of interest in and around Usakos. One of them is the old buildings and infrastructures that tell the story of the magnitude of the SAR operations back then. Sadly - though dilapidated - the residents have no sense of anything, and the place is slowly getting stripped of everything they can carry away. Not to mention the rubbish, grafitti (if it can be called that) and signs of vandalism there. Though it is TransNamib property and no unauthorised movements allowed, some Namibians clearly live to destroy. Imagine taking the place, clean it and make it (with the permission of the owners) a small tourist attraction, complete with a guide that can share some stories with the visitors. Im sure day visitors will even love to stay over and explore the area. Took the shots with my lil DJI Mini 2 - what a joy of a lil gadget. Despite some strong coastal winds, she handled every well.
