Management of anterior corneal dystrophies (ACD) with photo therapeutic tPTK combined with CXL
Safety and efficacy of a novel technique combining tPTK and CXL ACD, is demonstrated. 9 ACD eyes (4 Meismans, 5 Granular) were treated with tPTK combined with CXL. UDVA, CDVA, ECD, refraction, topography, tomography Scheimpflug and OCT-based were used for 12-month evaluation. In mean value change: UDVA from 20/200 to 20/55, CDVA 20/55 to 20/24, ECD; unchanged, refraction in diopters from -2.5 to + 4, all corneal imaging documented improved stromal clarity and surface normalization. tPTK and CXL may offer a safe and effective novel alternative in the visual rehabilitatation of ACD.
