In 1398, Amir Timur(Tamerlane/Timur-i-lang) already unify former Mongol dominion of Chagatai and Ilkhanate into one solid Emirate invaded indian subcontinent, His aim was the unconquerable Delhi Sultanate and its untold weatlh, ruled by Sultan Nasir-ud-Din Mahmud Shah Tughluq of the Tughlaq dynasty. During his advancement, Timur was opposed by separate Delhi provincial forces, but Sultan Mahmud Shah did not made unified effort to stop Timurid advancement After crossing the Indus River on September, he sacked Tulamba and massacred its inhabitants.Then he advanced and captured Multan by October, Timurid army appeared in the outskirts of Delhi by December. The capture of the Delhi was one of Timur's greatest victories, as at that time, Delhi was one of the richest cities in the world. After Delhi fell to Timur's army, uprisings by its citizens against the Turkic-Mongols began to occur, causing a retaliatory bloody massacre within the city walls. After two weeks of sack & plunder, Timurid forces return with abundant loot from Delhi back to central asia. The defeat marked the end of Tughlaq Dynasty rule and Delhi reduced as Timurid vassal ruled by Khizr Khan of Sayyid Dynasty appointed by Amir Timur. Delhi manage to gain its independence from Timurids under the rule of Lodi dynasty in 1451.
