Coverage of the Flexrotor and VSR700 VTOL UAVs with Victor Gerin-Roze, head of Unmanned Systems at Airbus Helicopters, during the Paris Air Show 2025. ===================== The Flexrotor can support intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions day and night using a daylight or infrared camera to provide a real-time video feed. The Flexrotor is in use with the U.S. Navy (Task Force 59) and was recently tested by the French Navy aboard an OPV. Airbus finalised the acquisition of U.S.-based Aerovel and its unmanned aerial system (UAS), Flexrotor in May 2024. The VSR700 has been selected as the demonstrator for the French Navy’s “Système de Drone Aérien pour la Marine” or SDAM programme. On 17 June 2025, the French Defence Minister has signed a framework agreement with Airbus Helicopters and Naval Group, for the acquisition of uncrewed aerial systems for the Navy (SDAM) and their integration onboard French Navy frigates. The VSR700 has a maximum take-off weight between 500 and 1000 kg. The VSR700 capabilities are not officially known, but is expected to « automatically land and take-off, fly for ten hours at 100 Nm and carry 100 kilos of payload, i.e. radar and optronics. ===================== For new videos every week, subscribe here! http://www.youtube.com/c/NavalNews?su...
