Fear was a strong factor even as I became quickly adaptive to this vicious cycle. Reminiscent of those rare occasions that I feared not for the moment to pass, letting the omniscient gust of time brush against my tired face. ‘Tired face’. That’s a funny way to put it. It’s also quite self-obsessive, as is this sentence and the ones that follow below. Treading this path of tumult leads to a typically unbearable rite of passage, whence one chooses between comfort and growth, between strengthening friendships and gaining ground within the social constructs of a capitalist utopia (perhaps these aren’t mutually exclusive, but as of right now, I cannot strike balance), and between bearing the pain of loss that accompanies close relationships that grow closer with time, and becoming indifferent through numbing the neurons responsible for finding meaning in such relationships. Life becomes bearable, life becomes less painful, when one stops giving it as much attention and gravity. A good comedian’s set-list will make exactly that observation. That’s why we love laughing so much.
