I've found a few obsolete Amazon Kindle tablets at garage sales and surplus sales and whatnot. Usually they're about $5 for the oldest e-ink type and $10-20 for the ones from the last decade. With all this old tech floating around, it would be nice to bring it back to life and do something useful with it! So what can you do with an old Kindle? I've tried: -Reading books! (Obvious I know, but they are still good for that!) -Reading old magazines from the Internet Archive (free back issues!) -To-do lists and shopping lists (works but kinda meh, paper is still easier) -Watching Amazon video (amazingly even the 2011 model can do this) -Youtube videos! This was the hardest thing to accomplish! After poking around with multiple old Kindle tablets and accidentally updating a couple (which makes them much less useful), I was able to get Youtube onto a couple of them. It's a lot of hassle and honestly, probably not worthwhile. I just hate to see these things rotting away in the junk drawer or getting thrown in a landfill, so it's nice to make them do something new and interesting! Note that I got all of these used and didn't sign up or agree to anything on them. If you bought one of these things directly from Amazon, you might technically be breaking some obscure user agreement by doing any non-Amazon stuff. These days you never really "own" anything you buy from a big tech company, and they'll constantly be trying to coerce you into throwing away the old one and buying a new product.
