I am Der Geher and I walk through Lurup in the west of Hamburg. From the station Elbgaustraße I first walk through the green belt Spreestraße. A few residential buildings and the eye-catching church St. Jakobus. After the Böverstpark more residential buildings follow before these give way to larger apartment buildings behind the street Fahrenort. The path ends in Trebelstraße. Lurup was only mentioned in the middle of the 18th century and is thus quite new. Even at the beginning of the 20th century, the area was still sparsely populated. In 1908, 45 dwellings with 377 inhabitants were reported. In 1927, Lurup then became part of Altona and was increasingly used for detached and terraced houses. Allotment gardens were also developed at this time. Since 1938, Lurup has then belonged to Hamburg. Today, about 36,500 inhabitants live here.
