It is with great pride we share the news that Colombia was one of the countries with the most projects submitted to the 2018 Ideas 4 Action competition. With 154 projects, we ranked fourth among more than 130 participating countries, thus achieving recognition for Universidad EAFIT in its commitment to the sustainable development agenda by 2030. Top number of submissions for 2018: 1. Democratic Republic of Congo: 304 2. Brazil: 205 3. Nigeria: 158 4. Colombia: 154 5. The United States of America: 97 6. India: 91 Traditionally, the largest participation for the Ideas 4 Action competition has come from African countries and has had both the participation and promotion of their development ministries. In recent years however, European countries, Asia, Oceania, Canada and the United States have also begun to get involved in this process. Other countries in the Latin American region participated, but with fewer projects: Argentina (8), Chile (3), Costa Rica (2), Ecuador (1), Guatemala (3), México (26), Paraguay (1), Peru (6), Venezuela (2). This is the second consecutive year that Universidad EAFIT has participated in the Ideas 4 Action international leadership competition, led by the World Bank and the Center for Business Ethics Research at the Wharton Business School in the United States. In this way, Ideas 4 Action begins to be part of the dynamics of both civic engagement and the pedagogies of service learning and experiential learning to the students of business subjects at Universidad EAFIT, and of study groups and applied research in the field of trade, investment and development. This year we had 8 professors from the subject of ethics and corporate social responsibility involved in the project, choosing to include the competition as a mandatory part of their course to explore its potential. They believe that with this project students acquire more than just familiarity with the objectives of sustainable development (SDO). By contributing to the fulfilment of these universal goals, students develop with this project competencies such as entrepreneurship, creativity, global citizenship, orientation to sustainable development, teamwork and communication. Ideas 4 Action has many important resources for learning, most prominently the published winning cases from previous years. This resource is particularly useful for students and teachers to discover possible scenarios of contribution to the SDOs, explore localization and replicability (or scalability) of these scenarios, and examine examples that clearly demonstrate what is expected in the contest in terms of structure, depth and rigor. EAFIT University had several special incentives in 2017 to participate in Ideas 4 Action. One in particular is highlighted, when EAFIT University was visited by Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin (PhD), Vice-President of the World Bank for the 2030 Agenda in the framework of the Chair of the Global Compact. We also have the firm support of Professor Djordjija Petkoski of the Center for Business Ethics Research at the Wharton Business School, who listened and gave feedback via video conference to the students' projects last year. Finally, also in 2017 the project of Business Administration student Manuela Gómez Valencia, applied to Cerro Quitasol in Bello, was selected among the finalists.
