The outcome of many lanes can be heavily influenced by your starting items. Some of the items you absolutely need to consider are: Tangos (I recommend two sets) Sentry: Necessary against invis heroes (like Sand King and Weaver) or when you need to ensure you have a pull camp Salve: Necessary when your lane is weak or when there will be heavy fighting. I recommend usually having at least one Salve between the carry and support Magic Stick: You should NOT buy this item to start in most cases.
