Video Description ~~~~~~ Did you know Google is secretly installing an application on every Android smartphone and tablet that can scan all the photos you receive through apps like Google Messages? But you can actually stop this from happening with a single tap #android #android16 #android15 #privacy Android System SafetyCore Surprise Most of you are probably not aware of what this application is or what it does. Google announced plans for an app like this a few months ago, but we're now seeing more and more people talking about how this was installed without their permission. So from their perspective, this application is going to seem like malware because Google didn't send any prompts to inform the user it was going to be installed. Some firmware even alert them of this mysterious app that was installed. . .without their knowledge. . .and it's had people panicking about if their phone has been hacked. Android is Scanning Your Photos I have a dedicated video about what this application is for. . .and how it works. The gist of what is going on here, is that Google wants to provide an application that can automatically scan every photo that has been sent to your smartphone or tablet. This scanning is done entirely on the device, so your images aren't being sent to the cloud somewhere But Google says the idea is to use this application to catch when unwanted, explicit images are sent and then to block it by giving a warning message. Allowing the user to decide if they want to see the photo or not. You can see how something like this can be helpful to those who are getting harassed. . .or young children who have started to receive unwanted messages. With that said, there are going to be some people who do not want this type of protection on their phone. Who does not want an unknown application scanning every photo. . .even if it's all being done on the device. And there are some of us who believe the way Google went about this is just plain wrong on many levels. Maybe it could have been done better by sliding it in as part of a bigger OTA update. That way you can at least point to the release notes and say we prompted the user about this application. Instead, this app is being installed on hundreds of millions of devices around the world. And the people who own the device isn't being made aware of anything when it happens. How to Stop Android From Scanning Images With how sneaky Google is being with this new application, at least there's a way to easily stop it from touching your images. We can do this by first launching the Settings application. Finding the Apps menu and tapping into it Then expanding this list to show all of the apps you currently have installed. Then, tap this 3-dot menu icon up here in the top right corner And then select the Show System Apps option so that you see every app installed on your smartphone or tablet. We can do a search at the top here for the word Safety or Core, and that should filter out almost everything else. Making it easy to find the Android System SafetyCore application Then from here, you can either tap on the Uninstall button. . .which most people are going to be able to do right now. . .or at least you should be able to tap on the Disable button from this page here. conclusion I completely understand why Google created an application like this But I feel they went the wrong way about getting it installed on Android phones and tablets around the world. At the very least, a notification should have appeared telling the user that the application has been installed and then explaining what it does. But Google has caused millions of people to panic because they're finding this strange app on their phones without any explanation. Step by Step Tutorial ~~~~~ 1. Intro [00:00] 2.
