March 25: God's Chosen Day

As many have noted, this year the Feast of the Annunciation (March 25) landed on Good Friday. Thus, the reason the Church moved it to today (outside the Easter Octave). This rare meeting of holy days (Annunciation and Good Friday) is filled with importance (it normally only happens a handful of times in a century… and will not occur again until 2157). There are many reasons this concurrence is important, simply because March 25th is held to be not only the actual date of the Incarnation of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the virginal womb of the Blessed Virgin, but also the day He was raised up on the Cross and died for our sins. What is more, tradition tells us it also the 6th Day of Creation, namely the very day that God made Adam and Eve in the Garden. What a wonder is Our God… Who “reacheth from end to end mightily, and ordereth all things sweetly.” This harmony behooves us not neglect or undervalue the meaning of God’s revelation on Creation. It is all well planned and harmonized…not accidental…not by chance or strange and blind forces.
