• In 1925, Universal Studios released The Phantom of the Opera, based on Gaston Leroux's gothic horror masterpiece and starring Lon Chaney - The Man of a Thousand Faces - as the Phantom. 2025 marks the 100th anniversary of the film's release, and since then, the Phantom has haunted the silver screen, the tv screen, the computer screen, the phone screen, bookshelves, and a bunch of stages with new adaptations of the story being released at least once a decade - if not more. WELCOME to the first installment of 100 YEARS OF PHANTOM - a series in which I will endeavor to review the many, MANY adaptations of Gaston Leroux's The Phantom of the Opera, and there is no better place to start than the with the source material. Please enjoy this OUTRAGEOUSLY THOROUGH synopsis of Gaston Leroux's gothic horror masterpiece THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. I'm breaking down the plot for new and old fans alike and making sure that even those who haven't read the book (YET!!!) can still appreciate how each adaptation manages to adapt the original. (you should still read the book. it's really good and I think you'll like it) Thank you for watching, get some sleep, drink some water, Jesus loves you! If you've read this far, please comment: You know what, Summer? I'm sold. I WILL read Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux even though you just told me the whole story. I wanna hear what Gaston's got to say. ALSO - here's that short story/alternate ending I mentioned: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13376942... I just want to give some stats: • I started working on this video in november of 2024 • I spent over 175 hours on it before it was finished • 138 of those hours were logged in the final three weeks before posting on THURSDAY 3/6 I woke up at 6:30 am and did not go to bed until 11:00pm on FRIDAY 3/7, a total of 41 hours awake • this is probably the most fun I've had making a youtube video. I'm just so happy I got to make this :) If you read ALL the way down to here, please add "it's the least I could do after you spent upwards of 175 hours on this project!" to the comment listed higher in this description
