Laser Treatment of Cafe Au Lait Macules

There are many forms of pigmented birthmarks which can respond to pigment lasers with varying degrees of success. In this instance, we treated a cafe au lait macule on the face of a young lady. We were able to clear this lesion with one session of our pigment laser. Typically, most birthmarks require 3-6 sessions, but this patient only needed one. Patients must also be aware that birthmarks may come back with time based on each person’s unique set of genetics.
