In this video I will show you how to solve a linear system using elimination using TETRIS as a metaphor. If you are wondering just how does elimination work in math, this video will walk you through the elimination method for solving a linear system using an example and TETRIS to explain it! Solving a linear system using elimination might seem more difficult than substitution, but once you get comfortable with this strategy, I find it ends up being a much faster way of solving a linear system, especially compared to graphing two lines to find the point of intersection (which can be inaccurate). The key here is looking for two variables with coefficients that are factors of one another. Multiplying an entire line by some factor will allow you to cancel out one of the variables, leaving just one to solve for. You can then substitute one this value into one of the lines to solve for the other!
