Is your LG electric dryer shutting off after five minutes, throwing a D80 error code, or refusing to start because of a snapped belt? Welcome back to Repair University! This week, Gabe does a complete teardown of an LG electric dryer to show you exactly what makes it tick and what makes it go wrong. We break down the entire machine, starting by removing the UI (User Interface) control board and rear panel. Gabe explains how to properly remove the front assembly by disconnecting the door switch, pushing the tensioner to walk the drum belt off, and taking out the drum to expose the heating element and motor. You will learn exactly how to troubleshoot and fix common LG dryer issues: Heating Element & Thermostats: How to safely remove the connections running to your heating element, and why you need to check both your cycling and high limit thermostats. Rear Rollers & Shafts: How to remove the rear bulkhead to access your rollers, and why worn-out rollers will wipe out your metal shafts and cause heavy vibrations. Blower Wheel: How foreign objects can break the fins on your blower wheel, plus the secret to removing the 12mm nut (it is reverse-threaded, so you have to turn it to the right to loosen it!). Motor & Trip Switch: How a snapped belt engages the trip switch to cut power to the motor to prevent fires, and the signs of a failing motor (like getting burning hot or shutting off after five minutes). 👇 Stuck on a repair?
