Dillon just made an April’s fool out of himself. Just 24 hours after being ejected for going after Kevin Durant, Brooks wanted all the smoke against Luka and LeBron too. Look at him yelling at the crowd as soon as he knocks down his first shot. Dillon felt real confident and started jacking shot after shot, but they weren’t falling really. As a matter of fact, nothing was going in for both teams in the 1st quarter. It was like watching a brick fest. 14 made out of 50 shots fired for the Lakers and the Rockets combined in the first 12 minutes. That’s abysmal. But in the 2nd period, LeBron made sure to shake off the jinx in style. Gabe Vincent out of all people took over from there and started breathing fire. Vincent reminded everybody of his Miami playoff form. And for the heat check Luka sparkled some magic as well. 3 straight triples for Gabe and the Lakers tied the game. Seeing the momentum swinging in their direction, Doncic stepped the pedal to the metal. Geez, Luka made Shengun dizzy before hitting Finney Smith for the easy money. And he had some words for the Rockets bench as well. Anyway, the game was tied at halftime, but the Lakers started the 3rd with a bang! Jaxson Hayes jumpstarts the fans with a poster jam on Alpi. However, Dillon Brooks would respond by knocking down 2 consecutive buckets. Seeing that Dillon is getting too hyped, James decided to calm him down a bit. And Dorian Finney Smith lit up in the 3rd, just like Vincent did in the 2nd. Finney Smith and Vincent were huge for the Lakers in this game. 6 - 3’s and 20 points apiece off the bench, that’s a hyperboost for a team. On the other end, things started getting chippy. After getting the layup to go, Brooks got in Luka’s face who was totally unfazed by it. Dillon continued with his chirping on the defensive end as well. With Doncic and James struggling shooting the ball in this game, just 11 of 28 combined, the others stepped up for the purple and gold. And while we’re watching Amen Thompson dunking at the start of the 4th, coach Redick dropped some wisdom. JJ is hilarious. Speaking of hilarious, what the hell is this defense by Dillon Brooks on James? I’m not gonna say anything, I’m gonna let you guys in the comments caption this sequence. Here’s what LA fans had to say to Brooks though. He got his mission fulfilled, to be LA’s number 1 villain. Regardless, the 4th quarter was very much like the 1st, points were hard to get and with neither team backing down we are headed for a tight finish. Then, LeBron used the rare miscommunication here by Houston to thread the needle to Hachimura inside for the jam. Out of the entire starting 5 by the Rockets, Amen Thompson was the only one up for the task in this game. 20 points on 57% efficiency for Thompson and the lead is down to 3. So, after a couple of empty possessions on both ends, LeBron can go for the dagger here… James loses the ball and Brooks draws the foul earning a chance to cut the lead to 1. Buut.. Look at Doncic taunting Dillon after missing the 1st. He made the 2nd, but now they have to foul and they send LeBron to the line who stays calm in the clutch and drains both free throws. So, here comes the most important possession of the game. Oh my goodness, LePops with the big time swat from the weak side made the entire arena go crazy. So, with everybody on their feet, Dillon gets a chance to put them in their seats. Brooks misses the corner 3, and Finney Smith gets fouled as Luka raises his hands in celebration. A bittersweet experience for Dillon, as we are awaiting to see who gets the last laugh between these two teams on the penultimate day of the season when they meet again. The Lakers are now 32-13 against teams in the West and have a plus minus of +10 in those games. Only the Thunder have a better record, with 35 and 11.
