On our 12-day road trip through Europe, we continued into Southern Germany after leaving Austria behind. Lake Königssee shimmered in emerald tones, reflecting the secluded St. Bartholomä Churcg—like a scene straight out of a painting. Since we’ve made it here, we’re also exploring the beautiful spots around the lake. Come along and see what else is worth visiting! The next day, we visited Linderhof Palace, built by the fairytale king Ludwig II himself. Though the guided tour only lasted about 20 minutes, it was full of remarkable details. His romantic aesthetic truly took my breath away. Photography isn’t allowed inside, so those impressions will simply have to stay in our memories. Then, we headed up to Zugspitze, Germany’s highest peak at 2,962 meters. Beyond the sweeping mountain views and the grandeur of nature, what amazed us most was the cable car engineering itself—ascending nearly 3,000 meters within just a few minutes.
