2025 marks the 200th aniversary of the first public steam railway. In this video, we will take a look back to the day of the first run. The day that got the world on track. Follow the story of George Overton and Edward Pease, who envisioned the project, and worked tirelessly to bring it through the beuracratic process. And the Stephensons, who brought steam power to the project. We will then cover Locomotion No. 1, and the events of that historic opening day. Finaly, we will explore the subsequent improvements of the line, as organisers learned by trial and error the correct way to run a public railway.
