Dr. Mary Fran Malone spoke about public opinion and perceptions of security in Latin America. She talked about the issue of victimization as well as distrust in institutions. Dr. Malone discussed the factors that influence support for tough-on-crime strategies in Latin America. She then discussed the current context in Costa Rica as well as future security and institutional challenges in the region. Bio Dr. Mary Fran Malone is Professor of Political Science at the University of New Hampshire. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh.
