"Песня Добровольцев Студенческого Батальона" (Song of the Volunteer Student Battalions) is a song of the Student Batallion of the White Army during the Russian civil war. The battalion was created in Rostov-on-Don and became part of the Partisan (future Alekseevsky) regiment of the Volunteer Army which formed in 1917 in Novocherkassk as part of the larger White Army. The Alexeevsky Regiment participated in the 1918 Ice March on Rostov-on-Don. The song's melody largely borrows from Vasily Agapkin's "Farewell of Slavianka". As such, the text probably originated back in 1914-15, in the wake of the patriotic volunteer movement when Russia took part in the First World War – its author still subject to debate.
