How to Disable Avira Free Antivirus Temporarily through the Windows Taskbar for Windows 7

For those of you using Avira Free Antivirus, this is a short tutorial that explains how you can disable the realtime protection on your antivirus. You may ask, "Why would you want to disable your antivirus protection. You'll get infected!" There are times when you want to run a program and Avira thinks the program is a threat. One example of this is if you try to run an iOS update using itunes on your iphone. In some cases, it might prevent the firmware upgrade or restore from happening. To disable, go to the bottom right of your desktop where your taskbar is. If you see a red umbrella, you can move your mouse cursor over it... it should say "Avira Free Antivirus" If you don't see a red umbrella, move your mouse over the up arrow and left mouse click to reveal more icons. On the Umbrella icon, right click to reveal more options. You should see "Realtime Protection Enable" with a check mark to the left. Left mouse click on it to disable this feature (the checkmark will disappear indicating virus protection is disabled).
