GEORGETOWN, Ohio (WKRC) - A Brown County woman is accused of injecting a pregnant woman with heroin. The woman has been indicted for injecting the pregnant woman with heroin mixed with Fentanyl, but prosecutors say the mother-to-be wanted the drug. Crystal Downs, 31, of Mt. Orab is charged with two counts of corrupting another with drugs and one count of tampering with evidence. Authorities said she injected the pregnant woman with the heroin-Fentanyl combo after the victim requested it. The Tri-State has been in the grips of a heroin epidemic in recent years. Overdose deaths are climbing as more and more people are mixing Fentanyl with the drug. In this case, the pregnant victim overdosed but was revived with Narcan. Assistant prosecutor Zac Corbin says the victim was 22-weeks pregnant at the time. He says she really bears some responsibility in this, but she and her unborn child are OK. The pregnant victim will not be facing charges. She isn't being charged because of a new immunity law in Ohio that prevents an overdose victim or a person who calls 911 for help from being charged in most cases.
