Join Stonewall's Executive Director, Robert Kesten, for a compelling conversation with author and mental health advocate Eric Marcus, creator of Making Gay History and chronicler of the early AIDS crisis. He'll share insights from Why Suicide? - a book offering honest, compassion answers to the difficult questions about suicide and its aftermath. In light of government cutbacks, the $33 million allotted to suicide prevention in the LGBTQ+ community will end on July 17th. The hotlines received over 500,000 calls in 2024, so without this service in place many lives are at risk. Knowing that our community attempts suicide at a higher rate than the general public, especially with Trans and Trans women of color under attack, those rates could increase as cuts to healthcare, food, and housing become front and center, putting more stress on individuals and their families.
