Guo Jiajia, a 14-year-old girl in southwest China’s Chongqing, was severely burnt after she dashed back into the burning house trying to save her disabled father on Saturday. The fire broke out in the early morning when the family were asleep. The cracking sound of the burning furniture and other objects in the house woke up Jiajia’s mother first. She called awake other family members and ran out to switch off the power. Jiajia ran out of the burning home but dashed back without hesitation after finding the absence of her father, who has a disabled leg. "My daughter asked me to go in the front, and I did so -- she was thinking of my disabled leg. When I got to the door, my wife said Jiajia hadn’t come out. Then I dashed back," said Jiajia’s father Guo Hongyong. The fire had engulfed almost the whole sitting room when the father came in, and he found Jiajia lying unconsciously on the floor with her clothes almost completely burnt and hands burnt black. "When Jiajia regained consciousness, her first words were whether her father had come out safely," said Jiajia’s mother Lai Rongqing. "I asked her why she turned back after she had come out already, she said she didn't see her father and wanted to find her father," added the mother. Jiajia is still in a critical condition. Her doctor said the teenager is suffering a 79-percent body burn, with her right hand almost coked and respiratory tract burnt. "There is a great possibility to have both her hands amputated," said Zhang Xiaohong, a doctor with the institute for burns under Chongqing's Southwest Hospital. After learning the accident, Jiajia’s teachers and schoolmates raised donations for her. People from all walks of life touched by the girl's story also lent her a generous hand. Many people also came to the hospital to donate blood for the needs of her treatment. Within three days, the family received one million yuan of money donation. Jiajia’s mother Lai Rongqing discouraged more donations, saying the amount was enough for the current stage of treatment and that the family would publicize how the money is used. She expressed her great gratitude to the donors. "I'd like to make a deep bow in front of the camera as thanks to them. Without their help, my family couldn't have made it and my daughter couldn't be alive," said Lai. http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20161207...
