Hotel Overview: The Sandos Papagayo Beach Resort is located in Playa Blanca with views overlooking Fuerteventura and close to Papagayo beaches. This large resort claims to offer a luxurious 4-star experience, but we’re here to show you every detail, from the good to the not-so-great. Reception and Atrium: We start our tour at the grand reception area, complete with the slowest revolving door in the world—definitely not ideal if you're in a rush! The main atrium has a really spacious and relaxing vibe with plenty of sofas where you can chill out, grab a drink, and just soak in the atmosphere. Facilities Overview: Bars and Dining: The Bar Canario offers a cosy spot to grab a coffee, drink, or snack. We also explore the Royal Elite lounge, which is available for those looking to splurge on a premium experience. Restaurants: The main restaurant, a buffet-style venue with international cuisine, left us a bit underwhelmed. You can also book the Asian/Mexican à la carte restaurant—but beware, it gets booked up fast! Pools and Entertainment: There are several pools, but despite claims of being heated, we found them to be freezing. The entertainment areas for adults and kids, including mini-golf and aqua bikes, are well organized, but participation was limited due to the cold pool temperatures. Fitness and Relaxation: There’s a gym with decent equipment and a spa that features a sauna, steam room, and hot tubs—but some facilities seem a bit outdated. Kids Facilities: The children’s playground and mini-golf might not be the most impressive, but they provide entertainment for the little ones. The teen lounge and other activities are there, though some parts were closed during our stay. Our Honest Thoughts: Despite its claim of being a 4-star resort, there were several aspects of Sandos Papagayo that didn’t quite meet our expectations. The lack of service in the buffet restaurant, freezing pools, and some areas in need of maintenance stood out to us. We also noticed several changes in the hotel standards since our previous visits, which other guests we spoke with also commented on. The Upsides: The views from the hotel are definitely a highlight. The sweeping sights of the sea and surrounding landscape are truly beautiful, and the scuba diving club and kayak rental down by the beach provide great opportunities to explore the coastline.
