Touhou KARASU MELTDOWN! (v2.01) - 2,513,720,931 Pts

KARASU MELTDOWN is a very cool caravan-style Touhou fangame that's inspired by Aka to Blue. Originally made in three weeks for the Gunner Parade '22 Winter League game jam, which also ended up winning 1st place. You get 3 minutes to score as many points as possible. System is very similar to Aka to Blue, you have a bomb that can charge up to 3 levels, and the more bullets and enemies you kill with a bomb recharges the next bomb faster. Originally you could only increase the multiplier with bombs but this was adjusted at some point, now you just need a bomb to start the chain. The chain resets when the chain meter runs out or when you use another bomb. You want to start off each section with a good bomb for a big chain, but apart from that it's mostly just kill stuff quickly and don't get hit. As per the caravan style, the quicker you kill enemies the more enemies spawn. You get bigger medals for pointblanking so there's also that. The game is quite good but maybe a bit too simple. For waves you have the two big guys in the middle, then the three double big guys, then a midboss, repeat, and that's basically the game. Granted it gets harder in the second half but it's a little bit repetitive. Not sure if it's possible to chain past the normal midboss guys. There are a lot of cool games made for these game jams that get easily overlooked, I need to go back and check them out at some point.
