Published 1828, London for Thomas Tegg. 20 volumes, each c. 275 pages. Text in English. Engraved half titles. Period full grained and diced leather bindings, raised gilt bands, title lettering and double ruled covers, board edges gilt patterned, marbled edges and end papers. Set is approaching 200 years old and shows some signs of handling and time. Set is not new or in "new" condition. Bindings gently age worn, leather lightly rubbed but still supple, joints slightly scuffed, final volume with some minor splitting along base of front joint, remains overall clean and attractive as an object. Text block paper is gently toned, internally each volume remains clean, well preserved, tight, sound. Still attractive on the shelf. Set displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
