Chinese Led Flood Lights : Possible DEATH again! This 50w LED Floodlight is another cheap AliExpress Purchase. As always, I test these things before I put them into service. On the outside it looks very similar to the old models of lights with a sealed driver and LED chip but this one has a newer COB LED. It is typical in that the safety earth wire is completely floating in the case, the glass is roughly cut and the gasket isn't quite the best fit. It does work though so I can't complain too much but then I am the one supplying the ring terminal to actually make it safe in the event of a fault. Anyone who thinks that you can just buy this stuff without testing it for basic safety runs the risk of having an unpleasant day if something goes wrong and the case becomes live. Given that most of these lights are fitted to wood or brick in the UK, nothing will be immediately apparent until Mr. Homeowner climbs his aluminium ladder and grabs the case.....
