Baofeng UV82 GT3 Wouxun UV8D VHF vs UHF Range Test Part 1

A brief comparison aimed at VHF vs UHF for simplex work. The set up is very simple. Leaving a Baofeng UV5RC on my desk at home on the ground floor. A voice recorder is set to record everything this UV5RC receives via a Nagoya NA701 antenna. I then went out with the other 3 radios on the bike and stopped at 0.5 mile, 1 mile and 1.5 miles points to hit the TX buttons. All radios were on high power setting about 5w. All 3 radios had their factory stock antenna fitted and all fully charged. The route I took was fairly flat with houses and lots of trees in between so it wasn't a line of sight condition at all. It was getting dark in the evening when I was at 1.5 miles and I forgot to fit lights to my bike. As a result I had to return home earlier than I had planned. However I will be taking these radios to a hill top about 5 miles away and conduct the same test. The result should be interesting.
