Original: • Видео Vernon Howard leads us to discover how both material and spiritual responsibility are a part of spiritual growth. SUMMARY: 1. In reality, responsibility is not an external imposition or an inner compulsion. Naturally, it should be an accepted, integral part of the present level of existence. 2. It is not possible to bury pain's existence by reacting to pain with excitement and pleasure; what we are conditioned to imagine as "spiritual" will not bury pain either! 3. A lazy mind wastes energy in self-protection, rather than putting its energy into responsibility and growth. Even though spiritual teachers and acquired knowledge can help us, a lazy mind turns these into evasions of self-responsibility. "Heroes" replace responsibility in the material world as well. 4. Imaginations and emotions are often self-protective and misleading dreams to cover up one's own spiritual poverty. 5. Mature self-responsibility substitutes for unnatural physical/spiritual self-protection. == These video excerpts can be found in a more comprehensive video series (Volume 31, Talks #2 & #3 entitled "Self-Responsibility Supplies Self-Enrichment" and "Questions and Answers") in the New Life Foundation DVD archive (http://www.anewlife.org). ==== The purpose of the vernon.howard.simplified channel is to condense some of Vernon Howard's longer talks into more concise versions with specific subjects/themes and also use annotations to help guide the listener through the message. The concise, interpretative video editing does not necessarily reflect the views of Vernon Howard, New Life Foundation, Guy Finley, Mark Butler, Vicki Woodyard, or any of his other students that continue to carry on his work. It is recommended to watch and experiment under qualified supervision and guidance.
