DA Hike News: Centre Approves 3% DA Hike For Govt Employees, Here's How To Calculate The Amount | 8th Pay Commission Centre announced a 3% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for govt employees and pensioners. The hike will be effective from July 1, 2024. DA is a cost of living adjustment expressed as a percentage of basic pay. Its calculation involves several elements, Including allowances such as HRA and conveyance and hinges on the All-India Consumer Price Index (AICPI). DA formula for Central Government Employees: DA% = [(Average of AICPI (Base Year 2001 = 100) for last 12 months – 115.76) ÷ 115.76] x 100 DA formula for Public Sector Employees: DA% = [(Average of AICPI (Base Year 2001 = 100) for the last 3 months – 126.33) ÷ 126.33] x 100 For Example, X has a basic salary of Rs 30,000. X's employer offers him a variable Dearness Allowance that is based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI ). The calculation uses a base index of 100 and applies a pre-defined factor of 0.25. Let's assume the current CPI stands at 150 and the base index is 100. To find the percentage increase in CPI, first subtract the base index from the current CPI. Then, divide that difference by the base index and multiply the result by 100 to get the percentage increase -- Percentage increase in CPI = ((150 – 100) / 100) × 100 = 50 per cent. To calculate the DA percentage, multiply the percentage increase in CPI by the given factor -- DA percentage = 50 per cent × 0.25 = 12.5 per cent. To calculate the DA amount, multiply the employee’s basic salary by the DA percentage. DA amount = Rs 30,000 x 12.5 per cent = Rs 3,750. Therefore, X would be eligible to receive a DA of Rs 1,500 on top of her basic salary. For a basic salary of Rs 20,000, DA amount = Rs 30,000 × 12.5% = Rs 3,750 added to the salary #8thpaycommission #7thpaycommission #dahike #news Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more breaking news and updates!
