Uganda Red Cross Society Empowers First Aid First Responders in Uganda's Disaster Prone Areas.

Uganda Red Cross Society, with support from the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Belgian Red Cross Flanders, Netherlands Red Cross, and Austrian Red Cross, has trained first aid responders under the Pilot Programmatic Project funded by Belgian Red Cross Flanders and Netherlands Red Cross. The training covered six branches—Mbarara, Kisoro, Rukungiri, Bundibugyo, Kasese, and Kabarole. In addition to the training, responders were equipped with assorted First Aid for First Responders kits to ensure fast and effective response in case of disasters within their respective branches. This initiative aligns with the National Society’s long-term strategy to empower disaster-prone communities, aiming to mitigate the impact of disasters at the community level.
