Check out the virtual workshop to learn board building! https://www.opensourceboards.com/onli... How to clearcoat/seal a homemade skateboard deck: 1) Sand smooth 2) Clean off the wood dust 3) Apply your sealer per the manufacturer's instructions 4) Let dry (per manufacturer's instructions) 5) Lightly sand the clearcoated deck again, and repeat (more coats will help give a glossier finish). NOTE: If you are applying a graphic on your board, test your graphic medium and clearcoat on scrap wood before you try them on your board! Some paints will not stick directly onto clearcoats, so it's better to paint the board before clearcoating. I've had no trouble with using oil-based spray paint on a clearcoated deck, but water-based acrylic paints wouldn't stick. Some things work better with a clearcoat first - Sharpies will bleed on raw wood, but come out sharp over clearcoat (I used Sharpie for this board - see the video thumbnail). Test first! (If you don't or forget to test, you can sand off your graphic or clearcoat to redo it.)
