If you are a teacher like us, you were given a day to collect your classroom essentials to teach from home due to COVIDE-19. (We though maybe a few weeks of remote teaching?) After 4-weeks of teaching remotely (and now the very real possibility of schools closing for the school year), we thought a quick video on what we've learned about remote teaching may be helpful. Please add your comments of what works for YOU as you teach and present lessons in this "new, temporary normal" that's going on in the world. This video touches on creating a classroom at your home so you can teach your students through video. Similar to creating a play or movie, the key elements we discuss include: 1. The Setting (creating a welcoming classroom environment at home) 2. Technology (getting sound, effective lighting, videotaping tips, electronic) 3. The Script (incorporating organization into you lessons/presentations) 4. Your Audience (tapping into what is most helpful to your students & families) 5. Making Your Video Shareable (from beginning to end) We love using YouTube to post and share our video lessons, activities, read-a-louds, and songs. Step 1: Create a YouTube Channel Step 2: Make your video using your phone Step 3: Upload your video to you YouTube Channel WeVideo is another source for making short videos, and has editing tools that are simple to use. Also can be done all through your phone. You can also save your WeVideo and upload it to your YouTube Channel. We use Apple's iMovie to upload our video clips, add text, and edit the sound and images. This is then uploaded to our YouTube Channel. We find Zoom a fabulous tool for video chatting with families, students, and teammates. PLEASE remember to record your Zoom lessons to protect yourself. Families/students participating in your video chats/lessons can screen record your lesson, and change elements. Your recording of your lesson is your "receipt" of your lesson :) The products we use.
