Voices for River Pilot Video: Transboundary River Governance

As the UN Water Conference draws closer, the International RiverFoundation is excited to air the first video in our Voices for Rivers series. This monumental event represents a pivotal opportunity to place water, and furthermore rivers, at the forefront of environment and climate action. The first video in our series draws upon the voices of the Executive Secretaries of both the ICPDR and ORASECOM, Birgit Vogel and Lenka Thamae, who explored the importance of transboundary river governance during the 2022 International Riversymposium. Both organisations represent examples of successful cross-border cooperation in managing rivers, highlighting the necessity and value of this cooperation. The UN Water Conference provides an ideal opportunity for further commitments by governments to establish Transboundary Commissions and cooperative river management mechanisms. This video amplifies this crucial message.
