UPDATE: As of 8:28AM cam time, Jackie is back!!!!!    • Запись   We’re revisiting the Big Bear Valley nest for a special moment from February 27, when Jackie delivered the second egg of her and Shadow’s second clutch of the season. This video captures the entire laying, uninterrupted. As many viewers know, Jackie & Shadow’s first clutch earlier this season was heartbreakingly lost to ravens. The arrival of this second clutch has meant so much to the entire community watching and supporting this nest, lovingly stewarded by Friends of Big Bear Valley. Nest Update (March): You may have noticed that Jackie has been away from the nest for a period of time. While this can understandably bring concern, we want to keep things calm and grounded in the information currently available. Shadow has been faithfully tending the eggs, including overnight incubation - something he has done before. Below is the official update shared by the Friends of Big Bear Valley team, posted by Jennifer Voisard in the Big Bear Bald Eagles – FOBBV Official Group: "Dear Eagle Family, It appears as if Shadow is on egg duty tonight. Jackie is somewhere off of the nest. We hope she is snug and safe. Eagles do not have good night vision so we hope to see her back in our sights tomorrow. Her instincts may have led her to defend their territory against perceived intruders away from the habitat this afternoon. We do not know. But we trust her and we trust Shadow. He is no stranger to overnight incubation. We do know that the power of positive thinking and love is the strongest power in the world and is much better for our nervous systems than fear, panic and anxiety. I am asking you all to hold love in your hearts for Jackie and Shadow and your fellow community members tonight. Please stay calm and positive. We are going to go to Admin only posts so that our team can keep up with your comments and also rest a little. Take deep breathes and lean on each other. Let’s not jump to the worst case scenario. That was Sandy’s mantra. Take care tonight Jackie and Shadow, we love you both. Good night eagle family ❤" For now, we continue to hope for Jackie’s safe return and remain grateful for Shadow’s steady care of the eggs.
