"I had come to believe that being sick made me a bad person. I could feel relationships in my life suffering, but it was hard to do much about it when I was suffering to the extent that I was physically. I used to sit in my office and listen to 'Texas Girl at the Funeral of Her Father' over and over at night and feel really hopeless. It was a hard time. But my little daughter kept treating me the same, not looking at me like I was sick, and she got me through it, I s'pose. She wanted to sing on the record and this song felt like the place. She howls all through the bridge. So that's, quite obviously, my favorite part."
