Today's tutorial is a semi-abstract landscape starter, ideal for beginners or those just beginning to find their feet with watercoloring. Today I'll be demonstrating how to paint a misty and atmospheric moonlit night sky, with this lovely old pollarded willow tree as a focal point. I hope you enjoy! Equipment list: today I am using Millford brand 100% cotton watercolor paper, size 1/4 imperial, weight 140lb. My colours today are: Prussian Blue, Payne's Grey, Sepia, and Raw Umber. All are Winsor & Newton Cotman colours. My brushes today are: a Daler Rowney Aquafine 'Skyflow' large 2 inch flat wash brush; a Princeton Neptune synthetic square wash brush size 3/4 inch; a Princeton Neptune round size 4 synthetic brush; a Pro Arte synthetic 'Sword' liner brush in size Small; and a Pro Arte 'Masterstrokes' Series 60 miniature brush size 5/0.
