The Modern Shed Roof System

Modern Shed’s roof system consists of pre-fabricated, fully enclosed panels. Each 15 inch wide panel is framed with 2x6 rafters and blocking and the cavity is completely filled with 3 layers of rigid foam insulation. The ceiling liner of either tight knot cedar or knotty pine is preinstalled on the panels giving them a finished look. There is also a ceiling “chase” for electrical lines that run the entire length of the panel for ease of installing ceiling lighting in any of the panels. The topside or exterior of the panels is sheathed with ½” plywood. Once the panels are screwed in place, Modern Shed’s standard underlayment of water and ice shield is put down. On top of the underlayment, finishing the roof is Nu Ray’s Select Plus 26 Gauge snap-loc, standing seam metal roofing and trim/flashing providing a 40 year warranty. Together, these components screwed to an architectural glulam beam providing a leak proof and amazingly strong roof.
