The 112th car in our "Used American Cars with a Base Price of Under 2 Million Yen" list is my favorite full-size sedan, the Cadillac DTS. ↓Details of the vehicle are as follows: 2009 Cadillac DTS Platinum Vehicle price: 1.38 million yen (total payment: approx. 1.6 million yen) Vehicle inspection: 2 years Mileage: 72,712 km (as of the interview date) Engine: 4.6 liter V8 Northstar (L37) Maximum output: 295 hp/6200 rpm, maximum torque: 390 Nm/4500 rpm Transmission: Floor-mounted 4-speed automatic Body color: Black Interior: Black leather Occupancy capacity: 5 people Officially imported Length x width x height: 5300 x 1905 x 1480 mm Tire size: 245/50R18 Of all Cadillac sedans, my favorite FR is the CT6, but my favorite FF is the DTS and its predecessor, the Deville (DHS). If I were to be greedy, I would have preferred a front bench seat, which was available in the US, but all officially imported DTS cars have separate bucket seats on the front, so there's nothing I can do about it (lol). As I said a little in the video, the feeling of the Northstar V8 when it's running well is amazing. Many of GM's V8 engines from a generation ago have a strong torque at low revolutions, but the Northstar V8 revs up beautifully to high revolutions. Strictly speaking, there are subtle differences between the early 1990s models and the later models from 2000 onwards, and according to experts, the feeling is slightly different between the torque-oriented LD8 and the horsepower-oriented L37, but in any case, it has a completely different feeling from other GM small block units such as the L98, LT1, and LS series, and I think it suits Cadillac wonderfully. Well, there is the caveat that "when it's running well" (lol). But even so, even within Cadillac, GM's highest-end division, you can buy a flagship, top-of-the-line sedan for just 1.38 million yen. This is truly the joy of buying a used car.
